Newcomers to Canada
London Western Rowing Club, in partnership with Stem2Stern, Hudson Boat Works, and Western University, is offering Learn to Row programming for newcomers to Canada. Participants are invited to engage in a multi-week instructional course with both indoor and on-water rowing training as well as a boat-building component. This Program is for anyone who has moved to Canada in the past year. Participants can expect to enjoy an exciting new recreational sport opportunity, make new friendships, and practice English language skills. Subsidized or no-cost transport options may be possible depending on the needs of the participants. Interested individuals can contact London Western Rowing Club directly at clubcaptain@londonwesternrowing.com or through the online registration.Programming will be offered in English with translation support from local community resource centers where available. There are no participant fees for this program. This program receives funding from the Community Sport For All Initiative of the Government of Canada and Rowing Canada.
Location: London Western Rowing Club is fortunate to have two well-maintained facilities in which to train out of. Our primary facility is located at 199 Wonderland Rd, London, ON. This location is used for winter training and introducing rowing to new students with our indoor rowing tank in addition to 22 ergometers, and stationary bikes. Our secondary facility is located at, 1424 Clark Rd, London, ON. This location is the Doug Wells Rowing Centre, which is a shared space with the Western Rowing Team and is where on-water rowing happens in the spring and summer. This is the same location in which Stem2Stern holds their launch events in the city of London, ON.

Le London Western Rowing Club, en partenariat avec Stem2Stern, Hudson Boat Works, et l'Université Western, offre des programmes d'apprentissage de l'aviron aux nouveaux arrivants au Canada. Les participants sont invités à suivre un cours d'instruction de plusieurs semaines comprenant une formation à l'aviron en salle et sur l'eau ainsi qu'une composante de construction de bateau. Ce programme s'adresse à toute personne ayant déménagé au Canada au cours de l'année précédente. Les participants peuvent s'attendre à profiter d'une nouvelle opportunité de sport récréatif passionnante, à se faire de nouvelles amitiés et à pratiquer leurs compétences linguistiques en anglais. Des options de transport subventionnées ou gratuites peuvent être offertes en fonction des besoins des participants. La programmation sera offerte en anglais avec le soutien de traduction des centres de ressources communautaires locaux, le cas échéant. Il n'y a pas de frais de participation pour ce programme.
